Famous Soror

Soror Violette Andersonborn in 1882, became the first African American woman attorney admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court on January 29, 1920. To go along with this historic accomplishment, not only was Soror Anderson the first African-American woman to practice law in the U.S. District Court Eastern Division, but she was also the first female city prosecutor in Chicago, Illinois.
